Amazon Prime Video has secured exclusive rights to a new documentary on Melania Trump, slated for release later this year. Directed by Brett Ratner, the film promises an "unprecedented behind-the-scenes look" at the former, and now soon-to-be, first lady. This marks Ratner's first project since facing sexual misconduct allegations.

The documentary's release coincides with a period of evolving relations between Amazon and the Trump administration. While Amazon founder Jeff Bezos previously faced criticism from President Trump, Amazon has recently signaled a shift towards a more conciliatory approach, donating $1 million to the incoming administration's inauguration fund and streaming the event on Prime Video.

This gesture contrasts with Bezos' past stance, which included a prohibition against endorsing candidates at The Washington Post, leading to significant internal conflict and a notable public reaction.

Filming for the documentary commenced in December. The film's executive producer, Fernando Sulichin, is an Argentine filmmaker.

The documentary's release comes amidst Melania Trump's generally low public profile. While she has attended certain recent events, she has maintained a relatively private persona. The demands of the first lady role, however, could see her increase her public visibility after the inauguration.
