Four people were found dead in a Santa Rosa senior community, victims of a suspected homicide. The victims, all shot, were discovered at a home on Monarch Court Wednesday. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Police responded to a welfare check request from the boyfriend of one of the residents, who hadn't heard from her in several days. Upon entering the home, officers found the four victims in different rooms, each suffering from significant gunshot wounds.
Preliminary reports suggest the victims are related, possibly a mother, her two adult children, and another individual. The senior community, Valle Vista, is characterized by its peaceful atmosphere. However, the tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the neighborhood.
Local authorities have yet to release the names of the deceased or confirm their relationships. Autopsies are scheduled for Friday to assist with identification. Five unharmed pets were recovered from the scene by Sonoma County Animal Services.
Neighbors reported noticing unusual activity, like uncollected trash, prior to the discovery, prompting further investigation. A police statement confirmed the ongoing search for motive and emphasized no imminent threat to the public. The Santa Rosa Police Department Violent Crimes Team is leading the investigation.
