This move came hours before his final collegiate game, the Alamo Bowl, and amid declarations from his family regarding his future placement in the NFL.
The custom cleats, displaying the Giants' colors and logo, fueled rumors of a potential alignment with the team, who currently possess the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite not wearing the cleats during the game, Sanders' message was clear and confident: "We know where we going". This follows prior comments from his father, Deion Sanders, asserting Shedeur would be the first overall selection and indicating a willingness to refuse to play for any team that drafts him outside his preference - in a move mirroring Eli Manning.
However, the Giants' draft position and their potential interest remain uncertain. The team currently has a league-worst 2-13 record. Additionally, Sanders is not universally considered the top quarterback in his draft class, as was reflected in a recent Yahoo Sports mock draft, which projected the Giants to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward first overall, with Sanders falling to the sixth pick.
