A significant fire erupted in an eight-story commercial building in Seongnam, South Korea, on Friday, leading to the evacuation and rescue of hundreds, according to local fire officials.
The blaze, which began around 4:30 p.m. in a first-floor restaurant, was subdued approximately 90 minutes later by over 260 firefighters utilizing 80 vehicles.
Emergency responders successfully rescued 240 individuals, while an additional 70 evacuated independently. Approximately 28 people sustained minor injuries, primarily due to smoke inhalation; no severe injuries have been reported. Authorities continue to inspect the premises to ensure no one remains trapped inside.
