A Texas man, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, allegedly used Meta smart glasses to record reconnaissance footage of the New Orleans area before carrying out a deadly truck attack on New Year's Eve. The attack, which resulted in 14 fatalities and numerous injuries, is now under investigation.
Jabbar reportedly visited New Orleans twice in the months prior to the attack, utilizing the glasses to document his travels along Bourbon Street, the street where the attack unfolded. Investigators believe he meticulously planned the attack.
Police fatally shot Jabbar at the scene. Authorities recovered the Meta smart glasses from his body, but preliminary reports suggest he did not utilize live-streaming capabilities during the incident.
The investigation into the attack is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
