Two bodies were discovered in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue aircraft at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday evening. Authorities are investigating the cause of death.
The discovery occurred during a routine post-flight maintenance inspection at Terminal 3. Both victims were deceased upon discovery, according to a JetBlue spokesperson.
Law enforcement and medical personnel responded to the scene. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released. Investigators are working to determine how the individuals entered the landing gear compartment.
The affected aircraft, Flight 1801, had recently arrived from New York's JFK Airport. JetBlue stated they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
