Two individuals from Cape Coral were apprehended Saturday after a vehicle veered off Interstate 75, crashed through a fence, and collided with a residential property before the occupants fled the scene. The incident resulted in property damage and the subsequent arrest of both the driver and passenger.

The vehicle, traveling southbound on I-75 near mile marker 143, left the roadway around 9 a.m. It proceeded to strike a fence and then impacted a home located on Williamsburg Drive. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed these details.

Following the collision, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Brenden Dennis McCarthy, and his passenger reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Authorities located and arrested McCarthy, charging him with leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Separately, the passenger, Rachel Lynn Wright, 24, also of Cape Coral, was apprehended due to an existing felony warrant. Both McCarthy and Wright sustained only minor injuries from the incident. Fortunately, the residents inside the home at the time of the impact were unharmed. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the investigation continues.
