Roseville, MI – Authorities have arrested the ex-boyfriend of missing Michigan mother Ashley Elkins, 30, on charges of providing false information to police. The arrest comes amidst growing suspicion of foul play in Elkins's disappearance, with family expressing belief that she was murdered.

Elkins vanished on January 2nd, after leaving her Warren home. Her last known location, according to cell phone data, was at the apartment complex of her ex-boyfriend, De’Andre Booker, 32. Police recovered Elkins's vehicle and evidence from Booker's residence.

"Based on evidence gathered at the ex-boyfriend's home, police now believe Ashley was murdered," stated Maurice Morton, a family spokesman. This assertion follows police informing Elkins's family of a "strong possibility" of foul play, according to reports from CBS News Detroit.

The arrest follows the discovery of a trash dumpster and other items seized by police. Booker has not yet been charged in connection with Elkins's disappearance. However, the investigation continues with a focus on the recovered evidence.

Initial reports suggest that Elkins was last seen wearing black leggings and a long black coat with fur trim. Police have not released further details of the investigation.

Elkins's disappearance, now entering its seventh day, has triggered an intensive search effort. Her cell phone was last active at Booker's apartment complex, according to family.

Booker is scheduled for arraignment at Roseville District Court Thursday morning. The Independent is awaiting further statements from local authorities.
