A United Airlines flight was struck by an American Airlines jet during taxiing operations at Chicago O'Hare International Airport Wednesday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. CST.

American Airlines' Boeing 737-800 reportedly struck the tail of a United Airlines 787, both on separate taxiways. The American flight was bound for Los Angeles, while the United flight was headed to Honolulu.

Investigations are underway, according to the FAA. Both airlines released statements confirming the incident. United stated there were no reported injuries and alternative arrangements were made for affected passengers.

United's statement emphasized that a different airline's aircraft touched the tail of a stationary United plane. American Airlines confirmed a similar incident, noting a normal passenger disembarkation and subsequent replacement flights.

Both airlines expressed apologies for the disruption caused to passengers.
