LG has announced a significant refresh of its Gram and Gram Pro laptop series, incorporating advanced artificial intelligence capabilities both on-device and through cloud services. The new lineup features enhanced processing power and expanded AI functionality, aiming to compete with offerings from Microsoft and Apple.

The 16-inch Gram Pro stands out as LG's first Copilot Plus PC, utilizing Intel's cutting-edge Lunar Lake Core Ultra V-Series processors. This model distinguishes itself further as the sole laptop in the series to feature this particular processor. In contrast, both the 17-inch Gram Pro and the 16-inch Gram Pro 2-in-1 are equipped with Intel’s Arrow Lake Core Ultra H-Series processors.

These updated laptops feature high-resolution 2,560 x 1,600 displays, up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, and up to 2TB of Gen4 NVMe SSD storage. The 16-inch Gram Pro and its 2-in-1 counterpart incorporate Intel Arc GPUs, while the 17-inch Gram Pro is fitted with an Nvidia GeForce RTX4050 graphics card for enhanced graphical performance.

Furthermore, LG introduces Gram Chat On-Device, an offline AI powered by a small language model derived from the company’s EXAONE model. This technology enables features like "Time Travel," which allows users to quickly retrieve recently accessed content. Additionally, LG plans to offer tools similar to Microsoft’s Copilot Plus and Apple Intelligence, although the full capabilities will be closely watched in light of recent concerns about Microsoft's Recall functionality.

Expanding its AI integration, LG also provides Gram Chat Cloud, leveraging OpenAI's GPT-4o for detailed, comprehensive responses using vast web-based datasets and integrating with calendar and email. This cloud service will be free for the initial year, requiring an active internet connection for its operation.

All new Gram models support Gram Link 2.0, streamlining file sharing with other PCs and mobile devices, including iOS and Android. This feature also allows users to answer phone calls directly through the laptops, improving integration between devices.

Finally, LG is set to launch its entry-level Gram Book in the US market, which includes a 15.6-inch full HD display, a 720p webcam, powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, configurations up to 1TB of SSD storage and 16GB of DDR4 memory.
