A shooting outside a New York City nightclub late Wednesday resulted in ten individuals being injured. The incident occurred as a group of young people waited to enter a private event.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) reported that the shooting took place at approximately 11:15 p.m. outside the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens. A group of about 15 people, ranging in age from 16 to 20, were approached by four individuals on foot.
Authorities stated that three or four of the individuals then opened fire on the group. Approximately 30 shots were fired before the assailants fled the scene on foot, later entering a sedan with out-of-state license plates.
NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera emphasized a “zero tolerance” stance on such acts of violence. The victims, six females and four males, were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders, including numerous police vehicles and ambulances, were present at the scene. While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have stated that the incident is not linked to terrorism. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
