During a live New Year's Eve interview, music producer Diplo admitted to taking a small amount of LSD before appearing on CNN, prompting an outburst of laughter and coughing from host Anderson Cooper. Diplo's candid revelation came during a conversation about his past use of the psychedelic drug.

The interview, part of CNN's "New Year's Eve Live" broadcast, featured Diplo via video link from Los Angeles. He was set to perform as part of the New Year's celebration. Fellow host Andy Cohen initiated the conversation about Diplo's past psychedelic use, specifically referencing his participation in the 2023 Los Angeles Marathon.

Cohen playfully inquired about the most conventional place where Diplo had taken LSD. To the surprise of the hosts, Diplo responded that he had taken some on the helicopter ride to his performance. This unexpected statement immediately triggered a reaction from Cohen and, particularly, Anderson Cooper, who started laughing uncontrollably.

Diplo, clarifying his comment, explained it was "like a light trip" and suggested he might have "macrodosed" earlier in the day. He further elaborated, stating that he used a dropper for the LSD, not a spray. Despite the light-hearted nature of the exchange, Cohen reminded viewers that the substance is illegal, receiving a noncommittal shrug from Cooper.

This isn't the first time Diplo has discussed his use of LSD. In a 2023 interview, he revealed that he sometimes adds the substance to his water, even during his working hours or while participating in endurance events. He said, "In small doses, it just gives you a fresher perspective."
